Chances are, you’ve heard about the new cannabis “darling” Delta 8, it’s what everyone is talking about. It’s not exactly new, but it’s having a big moment and it seems that it might just be here to stay. So - why?
Comments from users are pretty convincing:
“Stimulates intense relaxation...”
“A clear-headed high...”
“I don’t experience the same anxiety as a THC high.”
“I’m super chill but focused...”
Depending on what is happening in your body, and the potency and amount of what you are taking, everyone’s high is not the same. But pretty overwhelmingly, the Delta 8 “high” gets rave reviews for being mild and relaxing but also a bit energizing. And most definitely, the hemp-derived Delta 8 will give you a “lighter” high than marijuana.
Let’s get a little scientific
There are over 100 cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. Cannabinoids are all of the naturally occurring compounds found in the Cannabis sativa plant - and Delta 9 and Delta 8 are two of those cannabinoids. Delta 9 is what we commonly refer to as THC, the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana - meaning the thing that gives you the feeling of “being high” by affecting the neurotransmitters in the brain. The difference between Delta 8 and Delta 9 is how they each bind to the body’s endocannabinoid system, which causes you to feel high. Delta 8 makes you, for lack of better words, “a lot less high” than Delta 9. All because of the placement of that double bond, it’s much less psychoactive.
Delta 8 been widely reported to create relaxation, stimulate appetite, lessen nausea, and even help with insomnia. Recently, the National Cancer Institute released a statement that identified Delta 8 containing neuroprotective properties that can increase appetite and reduce nausea, anxiety and pain. Generally, users say that Delta 8 brings on a feeling of intense relaxation, more focus, but without the paranoia that can be a negative side effect of THC. It just keeps sounding better and better!
CBD v Delta 8
CBD, like Delta 8, is known for its benefits in dealing with anxiety, depression, insomnia, preventing seizures, managing cancer-related pain, and more. The main reason you would choose one over the other: if you want to avoid any psychoactive properties, you would choose CBD. Why would you chose Delta 8 over CBD? Precisely the same reason! Maybe you are looking for a subtle high, and the chill vibe that was described above. The best news: you don’t have to choose. Many find that combining CBD and Delta 8 is the perfect combo. Aqueous Wellness now offers delicious Delta 8 THC - Strawberry Lemonade Fruit Chews. They are derived from 100% hemp and have a proprietary nanotechnology CBD delivery system to provide a higher and faster absorption rate so that you can truly feel the benefits of these CBD Delta 8 gummies.
But is it legal?
Mostly - yes. The 2018 Farm Bill stated that hemp could be legally grown and used for extractions all over the United States. That means if you convert hemp CBD into Delta-8, you end up with a federally legal cannabis product that has the effects of THC, but at a much smaller scale than Delta-9 THC. It is not legal in all states, but it is in most. So technically, Delta-8 is legal in states where Delta-9 THC is illegal, making the demand for it ever-increasing.
Is Delta 8 right for you?
If you are just getting your feet wet in the cannabis world, or have a lower tolerance for THC but are looking for a legal product that can get feeling the relaxation that cannabis provides, this “approachable” cannabis might be just what you are looking for. Just google the comments of those that have tried it. I think you will like what you see!
