Ok, stop right now and check-in with yourself.
How are you feeling? I mean REALLY feeling?
Chances are you have been living with a low hum (sometimes high hum) of STRESS.
This is an unprecedented time for all of us. We are all affected on so many levels. Have you been pushing away your stress and soldiering on in this NEW NORMAL?
There are many ways that long-term stress can have an effect on you if you don’t take it head on and help your body, mind, and spirit deal with it. It may induce or exacerbate depression and anxiety-related disorders, as well as digestive and sleep problems.
In addition, we all know that stress can suppress your immune system which makes it easier to get sick.
So, we at Aqueous are sharing our wellness hacks with you. Let’s take that stress head-on, with these powerful tools.
Here are some of our faves:
+ Yoga for non-Yogi’s
Don’t roll your eyes! If you already have a relationship with yoga, you know the restorative power of this practice. If you don’t, don’t be scared away. Just a 5-minute practice involving moves you already know can physically relax your body, but mentally it causes you to pause, be mindful of the moment, your breath, and movement. This mindfulness is truly one of the most stress-busting benefits of yoga.
Yoga doesn’t have to mean standing on your head or balling up like a pretzel. ANYONE can do this:
Easy Pose (Sukhasana):
Do this four times. You’re Welcome.
From here you can experiment with neck roll, shoulder roll, standing forward bend, (see you already know these!).
Guaranteed - if you take a few minutes to do Easy Pose, your shoulders will drop and the benefit of yoga in your day, and on your wellness journey, has already begun.
+ Our Favorite Berry
The Aqueous Team is driven to find out what is in the natural world to make our lives and yours better. One of our favorite stress-busting wellness finds has been the elderberry. The berries and flowers of elderberries are packed with antioxidants and vitamins that may boost your immune system. They could help tame inflammation, lessen stress, and help protect your heart, too. Some experts recommend elderberry to help prevent and ease cold and flu symptoms.
According to Healthline.com, ‘There are many reported benefits of elderberries. Not only are they nutritious, but they may also fight cold and flu symptoms, support heart health and fight inflammation and infections, among other benefits.”
That all sounds great, but how do you actually TAKE elderberry? Mostly our team had only seen this power packed berry in cough medicine. So to get some true stress reducing and immunity fighting benefits of the berry, we did a mash-up with our
Aqueous Fruit Chew CBD Gummies and a star was born. Try it, you WILL like it!
What does the CBD bring to this stress-busting party? Cannabidiol (CBD) can help boost your immune system. It includes elements that help reduce your immune system’s inflammatory response. In fact, research has proven that CBD includes anti-inflammatory properties and can work as an immunosuppressant and immunomodulator. It helps to isolate areas that are infected and prevent the toxic components from spreading to other parts of your body. CBD impedes inflammation by helping to modulate or suppress the functioning secretion of cytokines, large groups of proteins secreted in our body’s immune system. This then helps regulate inflammation, immunity, and the production of white blood cells. CBD is an all-star in helping your immune system work to keep you healthy.
By combining elderberry and CBD we could incorporate two stress fighting and immunity boosting stars in the package of a yummy little gummy. And it IS good enough to eat!
+ Laugh a Little...or a Lot!
According to the Mayo Clinic laughing can Improve your immune system. “Negative thoughts manifest into chemical reactions that can affect your body by bringing more stress into your system and decreasing your immunity. By contrast, positive thoughts can actually release neuropeptides that help fight stress and potentially more-serious illnesses.”
Having a rough day, feeling exhausted and just want to curl up on the couch with Netflix? Instead, open a bottle of wine and have the friend that makes you laugh the most come over for a drink.
Going on a walk with an Audible book, try Tina Fey instead of the intense World War 2 love story.
Ready to settle in and watch a Dateline? Try a good old Seinfeld or Friends instead. Deliberately bring the light and laughter into your life. Seek it out. The world is heavy, lighten up!
Limit the drama, and up the laughs.
+ Take a Hike...or a Walk
Truly the quickest, easiest way to raise the endorphins and lower stress levels is walking. In the midst of workouts being thrown off, gyms closing, re-opening, then closing again, one thing you can count on is a nice, long walk.
I don’t think you need us to tell you that walking is something that every doctor endorses. It’s pretty powerful what just a short walk can do…
Even Hippocrates said, “ Walking is a man’s best medicine.” Pretty great that advice from 370 BC has withstood the test of time!

Cheers to your health!
Of course, this is always the new year buzz, especially coming out of a year like 2020; chances are more bad habits have been made. Many of us got into new cycles that we’d like to break, change, or amend. Wine-to-wind-down more often than usual? Check. Netlfix on the couch more often than not? Yep, that too.
